On May 5th, 2012, the LEGACY Volunteer Partners program hosted an engineering workshop at Patriots Technology Training Center's (Patriots-TTC) 15th Annual Youth Summit on Technology, held on the campus of Bowie State University.

LEGACY, Inc members Aleem Boatright, Jonathan Rowley, and Kerby Scales participated in a "Youth Health Expo" organized by the Children's National Medical Center, Adolescent Prevention Education Program (APEP) on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at King Greenleaf Recreational Center in SW Washington, DC.  The Youth Health Expo served as an all in one health fair, resource fair, and social event.  It was an idea created by the APEP Youth Advisory Board Student Leaders to spread the word about health and wellness.  The Expo included performances by local youth, open mic, and many free

LEGACY, Inc Participates in Healthy Masculinity Workshop

LEGACY, Inc members / Teen Life Club (TLC) facilitators, Kerby Scales and Jerome Murphy participated in a "Healthy Masculinity" workshop with the boys from TLC on Saturday, April 14th, 2012.  Kerby and Jerome watched a TedTalks video ( featuring Tony Parker with the boys.  They discussed Tony Parkers concept of the "Man Box."  The topics of discussion were:


LEGACY, Inc. assists the Children's National Medical Center with the Focus On Youth program

On April 2nd LEGACY, Inc. assisted the Children's National Medical Center with conducting a Focus On Youth with ImPACT retreat.  Focus on Youth w/ ImPACT is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),  and pregnancy prevention program for youth ages 12-15 years old. It aims to give youth the skills and knowledge they need to make healthy decisions surrounding life skills, goal setting and sexual health.

LEGACY, inc. participated in Project Alpha for the second year in a row. Members Ogbonna Hopkins, Jon Rowley, and Garry Armstrong led the discussion of STIs/STDs to a group of approximately 50 youth. The workshop was held at Stephen Decatur Community Center. Students ages 12-18 from all over Prince George's County participated in the all day workshop. The lessons were well received and appreciated by all the youth!  See photos here
